Laws and internal company rules must be complied with.

Failure to comply with rules entails considerable risks for companies. The responsibility of company management for preventing breaches of the law from within the company, which is sanctioned by the German Act on Regulatory Offences (Ordnungswidrigkeitengesetz), and the sensitization of companies and the public to legally compliant conduct, mean that compliance management systems (CMS) are now standard in most large companies.
